Experienced ESE Teacher needed for 1:2 High-Functioning Special Needs Class
We are seeking an
experienced, certified special education elementary school teacher for
the 2008/2009 school year. This position is for a qualified teacher
in secular English studies, therefore, applicants do not have to be
Jewish to qualify.
We are a small, non-profit school located in Fort Myers, and our mission for this program is to teach students who require additional learning support in a truly alternative educational environment that acknowledges their needs and celebrates their strengths.
We are looking for a
dedicated, energetic, creative, dynamic teacher for our active and
curious students. This is a flexible,
positive, rewarding environment for the teacher, as well as the
students. The opportunity offers an extremely low teacher-to-student
ratio, no greater than 1:2, and you will be part of a team
oriented teaching environment with lots of professional support and
training, room for growth, no bureaucracy, lots of outside the classroom
activities, an opportunity to fully utilize your teaching skills and
talents, and the opportunity to have a big impact on the life of each
student.
We require a current Florida State teacher certification, or out of state certification in the area of Special Education, as well as recent experience working with upper elementary students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade. In addition, candidate must have experience and/or knowledge in curriculum development, how to incorporate assistive technology and positive behavioral techniques into teaching, how to specifically teach students who have AD/HD learning issues and anxiety, and how to combine direct instruction and functional teaching with inquiry based learning for LD students. Other training or talents that would be a plus: any training in ESE Curriculums, ABA, skill set in the arts, and experience in psychology or counseling. This is truly an ideal environment for an experienced ESE teacher looking to make a difference. A classroom of only 4 high-functioning children, this opportunity presents the ability to set up a classroom environment and curriculum that will give these children the opportunity to excel and blossom. A full time qualified, experienced assistant teacher will be provided, as well as additional support from a Speech and Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and Behavior Analyst as needed both by the students as well as to provide support to the teacher. Master's Degree Preferred If interested in this amazing opportunity -- please contact us to
